Design Feedback Presentation
summary
Tegus • Director of Product Design • Fall 2022
Feedback is one of the most important ingredients to great design, but far too often designers leave critiques secretly feeling scattered, frustrated, and disempowered. I created this framework and presentation to help the designer and other team members in our tech team provide better feedback.
Critic Culture
Feedback
Why do we need design feedback?
Good critique is not just about finding faults. The judgments we form can and should cover both positive and negative aspects of the work. As critics, we should strive for fairness, honesty, and empathy. With this attitude, critique starts to look like more of a creative task rather than a destructive one.
When critique is done well, it:
Identifies the strengths of the work
Helps to improve the weaknesses of the work
Helps our professional development within design
Enhances mutual trust and collaboration with peers and stakeholders
In short, critique matters because it enables us to improve our work.
